FRANCE IS BIG

France has a long and refined history, it is a culture synonym with class and taste.
It is one of the oldest nations on Earth and the most ethnically diverse country in Europe.
These deep and broad influences have made France a world leader throughout history in nearly all aspects of culture, including cuisine, wine-making, politics, philosophy, music, art, film, fashion, literature, and sports.

FRANCE IS FAMED FOR ITS HIGH CULTURE

France has been a center of cultural creation for centuries. Many French artists have been among the most renowned of their time, and France is still recognized in the world for its rich cultural tradition.

The 43,180 buildings protected as historical monuments include mainly residences (many castles, or châteaux in French) and religious buildings (cathedrals, basilicas, churches, etc.), but also statutes, memorials, and gardens.

YOU’VE GOT GOOD HEALTHCARE OPTIONS

The French healthcare system was ranked first worldwide by the World Health Organization in 1997 and then again in 2000. The average life expectancy at birth is 79,4 years for men and 85,5 years for women, one of the highest in the European Union. There are 3.2 physicians for every 1000 inhabitants in France. The share of GDP allocated to health spending (excluding capital expenditure) was 10,9% in 2013 in France. It spent the equivalent of USD 4124 per person on health in 2013, compared with an OECD average of USD 3453.

IF YOU WANT TO LIVE IN FRANCE, LEARN FRENCH

Almost 90% of ex-pats in France are fluent or learning French, according to the Expat Explorer Survey 2018 – so make sure you follow suit. French people are typically pretty unforgiving when it comes to foreigners who don’t make the effort, which makes sense. No-one’s saying you have to start eating blue cheese or wearing a beret if you don’t want to – but if you’re going to move to France, learn some French.
